Case Study: Summer Coding Course with Royal Grammar School in Guildford

Last week, we had the privilege of running a three day Coding Course for a group of 30 students at Royal Grammar School in Guildford. We had visited the school a year previous, running a combination of our BBC micro:bit Workshop and our Coding Games Workshop over the course of a day, so it was really lovely to be invited back. This time, we were invited to run a three day course with a group of students, aged 11-13. It was amazing to have three whole days with the same group as we could cover a range of programming...

Case Study: Thomas’s Clapham Coding BBC micro:bit Workshops

Last month we visited Thomas’s Clapham to run some BBC micro:bit Coding Workshops with their two Year 8 classes as part of their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths) week. Each pupil in the class had been given a BBC micro:bit last year, when they were in Year 7, as part of the national rollout. They had already learnt some of the basics, so it was a fun opportunity for us to come in and create some fun and exciting projects with the classes, encouraging them to take coding further. We ran through a quick refresher, using the...

During our sessions, we introduced the pupils to coding, teaching the fundamentals of programming using drag and drop coding blocks. The pupils learnt about controlling objects...

Our Games Development Workshop with Glebe Primary School

We’ve had a busy six months running our brand new Games Development Workshop at a number of primary schools across the UK, and we thought we’d finish up the academic year by sharing with you how we helped one primary school in the UK get to grips with coding. On Monday 20th July, we visited Glebe Primary School, based in Ickenham, part of the London Borough of Hillingdon. Glebe were keen to engage and involve two year five classes, so we worked with almost 60 pupils throughout the day. Working with each class, we presented and discussed games and game design...
